À propos

On now at the Upper Rotunda Gallery through September 25, the public is invited to visit "Beyond the Bell", a community art exhibition featuring recent artworks by Richmond School District No. 38 staff.

The artists featured in this exhibition explore a rich tapestry of ideas—personal memory, ancestral connection, and the natural world. Visitors will see a wide range of media and themes—portraits emerge from grief and intuition—marks are guided by colour, movement and expression. Clay vessels shift between the functional and the sculptural, while encaustics and photography capture fleeting coastal moments and the quiet character of Steveston. Some artworks are inspired by the found materials, others reference pop culture, while others pay tribute to artistic mentors, honour family histories, or express ideas about deep cultural and personal narratives. Across ceramics, painting, photography, and mixed media, each piece reflects a commitment to experimentation, storytelling, and the unseen creative lives that flourish beyond the school day. Explore the diverse themes, techniques, and perspectives on display and see the vibrant creativity that thrives beyond the bell.
