À propos

Join us for a reception celebrating the 2021 Summer Artist-in-Residence program at Lumsden Beach Camp. The Elsie Scherle Gallery will host works created by the children from the camp program, as well as documentation, gathered specimens and stories exploring the land the camp exists on and our connection to it.

Featuring a performance at 1:30 by Artist Misty Wensel:

"Lost in the howling landscape of life, most people will choose the confinement of a path to the dizzying freedom of unmarked wilderness".

- Robert Moor, On Trails (2016)

Misty's current work explores her relationship to place as an artist of settler descent, orienting connection with the land within the complexities of colonialism.

BIO: Misty Wensel is a co-founder, dancer, and choreographer with Regina-based FadaDance Troupe. Dancing with this trio informs her creative spirit while affording her the opportunity to create inquisitive & intuitive works of contemporary dance.

This is an in-person event. RSVP to [email protected] to attend. Attendance will be limited in half hour time blocks and masks will be required for all attending. The performance will be recorded and shared for those unable to attend.

LMLCC/Lumsden Beach Camp

The objective of the Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre Inc. is to create, implement, and operate a cultural centre which:

Provides quality space for exhibitions, art activities and programming, Will preserve, maintain and present the Elsie Scherle art collection, and add to the LMLCC permanent collection, Develops and presents a diverse arts program for the general public and practicing artists because we value and support the role of the arts in our community.

A short drive from Regina, located in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley, hugging the south shore of Last Mountain Lake, is a piece of paradise known as Lumsden Beach Camp. Lumsden Beach Camp did not happen by chance. It was created by faith filled people who had a vision. Since 1905 this camp has been a special place where adults and children come together. Still today we come to this special place making lasting friendships, connecting with the sacred and having tons of fun!
