À propos
Join self-taught Hamilton based visual artist Laura Kay Keeling (she/her/they) for a welcoming, hands-on collage workshop. Known for her process-driven practice that blends analog photography, video, collage, and installation, Keeling invites participants of all creative levels to explore the art of collage to create a small collage.
Attendees are encouraged to bring personal photographs or images, but Keeling will provide a selection of sourced visuals from field guides and nature books—featuring native plants, butterflies, leaves, and more—as well as human-made textures. Drawing from her Untitled Portals series, she’ll offer pre-cut elements and full pages of imagery to make the experience accessible. Participants can also create their own collage pieces by drawing or colouring on paper and cutting out shapes and patterns.
Keeling’s passion for community engagement shines through her decade-long mentorship with Big Brothers Big Sisters and her teaching experience at CAMH, Lakeshore Arts, YouthCAN Program, and Kids Up Front. Her workshops celebrate creativity, accessibility, and connection—making this event a perfect opportunity to explore visual storytelling in a supportive space.
