A couple of years ago, just for interest sake, I took a couple of summer courses at Haliburton School of Art and Design in jewellery making.

After taking these courses I chose to work with base metals (brass, copper & nickel silver) so that I would not be afraid of experimenting and using up expensive metals – but later discovered that this was actually a decision I decided to remain with since it allows me to now sell unique jewellery at a price point that anyone can afford.

I have a Facebook page (Sakura Shop) and an Instagram page (sakurashopjewellery)

My personal style, which is reflected in the pieces I make, is a little eclectic and is meant to be more of an easygoing style. Because each piece is handmade by me there is slight variability in each piece.

Sheryl Boivin www.sherart.com

My name is Sheryl Boivin. I am a mother of four beautiful independent daughters.

I am a self-taught artist, born and raised in the Sudbury area, in Northern Ontario, Canada. I am of mixed indigenous and European ancestry but identify mostly with my French and Huron roots.

I began drawing at an early age; my mother says since I was in a high-chair.

Though I use a variety of mediums and subject matter in my art, my forte is definitely in pencil and portraiture. I do however love to learn and try new things and am constantly working on refining my technique, style and my skill set.

I am very passionate about my art, my motto being: "Art is my Obsession." My hope is to someday be able to work at my art on a full-time basis.
