Organisateur

PICTORIC: Kyiv Illustrators' Club & Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre

This is a cross-Canada art pop-up tour of 50 Ukrainian-made illustrations and contemporary poster art about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

When russia invaded Ukraine in February, few could have guessed the depths of the cruelty which the occupants brought with them. Pictoric captures some of the most hard-hitting, visceral snapshots of the immediate impact of that invasion; images of their own, deeply personal experiences or the illustrations of the happenings reported and observed all around them...

Sofiya Kominko first brought the Pictoric Exhibit to Ottawa's SAW Gallery in June, followed by a pop-up at Vancouver’s ALSO the Kent event space. Christia Chudczak, a photographer, and Libid Zyla Harder, a theatre and film mercenary, recognized the importance of keeping these illustrations and the stories they tell in the spotlight as long as Ukraine remains occupied.

Oseredok is an internationally-recognized repository, museum, archive, library, art gallery, educational, and research centre dedicated to preserving, sharing, promoting, and developing Ukrainian-Canadian and Ukrainian culture and heritage.

In view of the coming wave of Ukrainian displaced persons, Oseredok offers English-language classes in order to help newcomers integrate. This exhibit is pay-what-you-will; your donation for this event is solely used for funding this English-learning program for Ukrainian refugees.
