Introduction by Louise BigEagle: I chose this film because society is getting ravaged by drug addiction, especially meth, it’s separating loved ones and creating rifts in communities. The residential school systems have had a lasting effect on Indigenous communities and its traumas will never be forgetten, some tend to try erase those memories by alcohol and drugs, creating addictions that last for years and have stripped people from their indigenous identity. Louise BigEagle is a nakota/cree from ocean man First Nations, currently residing in Regina, Sk. They are a filmmaker and writer who’s interests are indigenous storytelling. Louise is Programming and Mentorship Coordinator at Saskatchewan Film Pool.
