We want to create an atmosphere that allows artists and music lovers alike to come together and cook up a song from scratch! Our two hour program offers basic production and songwriting techniques for beginners, followed by a live group production and recording session on how to create a demo track. During this workshop the participants will learn how to produce/record a track with Truss, and how to write lyrics for a verse and hook with Nicole Chambers!

Our goal for this workshop is that participants will leave feeling encouraged and inspired to use these skills they have gained and create their own demos. We also want folks to

network and connect within the community - as two artists who have grown up together in

Brampton, and continue to make music together, we hope this experience will stimulate the

group to build a connection with one another like Brampton arts programs have done for us!

Colourful Sounds & Chambers Soul

COLOURFUL SOUNDS:

Colourful Sounds is an organization dedicated to educating and empowering people of colour who are interested in audio engineering. Founded by Truss, a producer, audio engineer, and artist based in Toronto, his mission is to spread as much knowledge as he continues to learn, and help in any way possible to bring about better change for his community. Initially, Colourful Sounds was developed out of a dire need to see more BIPOC folks in live sound - not only the need to see more representation in this field, but to preserve the experience of live Black music. Many artists have testified of that one (or few) horrific live sound experience that made them feel discouraged or uncomfortable to perform the way they usually do. Truss believes that the more diverse the stage crew is, the better for everyone involved - including the audience! The beautiful thing about audio engineering, is that these skills can be applied both on and off stage. Colourful Sounds is veering back to the studio and covering the basics of setup, sound processing and production, so folks can explore the accessible ways to creating at home!

CHAMBERS SOULS:

Nicole Chambers is a Brampton-based singer-songwriter known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. She has a passion for music that began at an early age and a background in jazz vocals from Mohawk College. Nicole has released four projects, each showcasing her unique blend of contemporary R&B with influences from soul and jazz. In addition to her musical endeavours, Chambers is empowering fellow artists through workshops focused on songwriting. She has partnered with Massey Hall for various music programs like Share the Music, as well as the city of Brampton’s Heart Beats program. Nicole continues to inspire others with her passion and commitment to fostering talent within her community through her organization Chambers Soul.
