À propos

Join New Media artist Maria Won to explore Four Virtual Worlds, an immersive 360° video experience that demonstrates the hypothetical harmonious future of nature, plastic, and creations. Go on a digital journey through planktons and plastics, upside down oceans, colourless nature and see the plastic inside us. For those unable to wear a VR headset, the artwork will also be viewable in Augmented Reality or 360° YouTube video.

Organisateur

Maria Won

Maria Won is a South Korean-Canadian artist, curator, and educator. Drawing influence from both the fantasy and the lived experience within the Korean diaspora, she examines and questions how we can rethink human-ecological systems in an industrialised society.

She writes, "Through my hyphenated identity and idiosyncratic lens, my works specifically reflect on the issues of single-use plastic, mass production, and consumerism and its impact on our contemporary society. By using climate crisis as a metaphor in relation to my identity, I question different means to articulate the visualisation of the paradigmatic dilemma through multi-disciplinary artworks in all forms of media such as performance art, video art, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence."

Her artworks are often performed to manifest the complex nature of inter-connectivity with mental health, belonging, and climate change where the natural and technological worlds converge.
