À propos

This work is part of a collection titled Ghosts Don’t Cross Borders, other works in this collection include “Trapped in Heaven's Gate,” and "Ukrainian Artists United." Together, these works speak to the human cost of the war in Ukraine—through the lens of memory, loss, and justice.

Ghosts Don’t Cross Borders is a refusal to forget what the war in Ukraine leaves behind — and what the world leaves behind when it moves on.

“All the Love We Cannot Bear, Articulated” is a meditation on the intimate, often unseen burdens carried by those on the front lines of war. This project brings together thirty days of a Ukrainian soldier’s diary, painstakingly embroidered onto thirty uniforms, each one a tangible fragment of lived experience, grief, and resilience.

War fractures not only the body but the heart — leaving behind echoes of love, loss, regret, and survival that are difficult to bear or express. Through the act of embroidery, a traditionally gentle and painstaking craft, I seek to give voice and form to these intangible emotions, preserving personal stories that might otherwise be lost amid the noise of conflict.

The final uniform bears a poem that serves as a counterpoint — a haunting reflection on memory, destruction, and the cold machinery of war. It bridges the deeply personal with the universal, reminding us of the shared human cost behind every uniform, every entry, every shadow.

This work invites viewers to pause and bear witness, to honor the resilience and sacrifice woven into each stitch, and to confront the profound weight of love and grief that war both conceals and reveals.
