The Rhymes of Times is a monthly small group reminiscing session held at the PoCo Heritage Museum in Leigh Square and online. Topics change each month and cover diverse subjects. The author and group leader, Julie Schmidt, reads an original one page poem that shares her own experiences and asks questions of the participants so their experiences with the subject are drawn out. People’s shared memories usually spur remembrances from the others; things or happenings they had forgotten along the way. It is usually both fun and educational, particularly when there are people present of different ages and backgrounds. It offers an opportunity to practice English skills for ESL folks at the same time we remember our past and share in the stories of others. No preparation is required.
