À propos
In the late 1970s Canada accepted thousands of Southeast Asian refugees who were fleeing their homes. Many organizations in the Humboldt region sponsored a refugee family in order to help them begin their new life in Canada. The Museum's latest exhibit, Hearts of Freedom: Stories of Southeast Asian Refugees, tell this story.
Nha and Dan Tran, proprietors of Humboldt's Tran's Cafe, and their family fled Vietnam and were sponsored by the community of Watson in 1980. They chose to build their life and raise their family in the Humboldt region.
On September 24, we are welcoming the Hearts of Freedom curator, Dr. Stephanie Stobbe, to the Museum via Zoom to talk about her work.
In addition, join us to view the story of Nha and Dan Tran and share your memories or knowledge of the refugees from Vietnam who came to the Humboldt region.
