À propos
Presented by County Arts in conjunction with the exhibition Return to Source, this interactive workshop invites participants to explore creativity as a lived experience rather than a technical skill.
Inspired by the theme of Living Creatively, the 90-minute workshop + 30-minute facilitated exchange encourages participants to slow down, become present, and engage with themselves, others, and the creative process in a playful and meaningful way. The emphasis is on experiencing creativity as a practice of attention, curiosity, and connection—not on artistic ability or producing finished work.
Through a blend of contemplative artistic practices, reflective writing, mark-making, sound, movement, and shared creative exploration, participants will reconnect with their own inner source of creativity—the place from which imagination, expression, and authentic connection arise.
The workshop will be co-facilitated by local author Sarah Selecky and visual artist Julie Jarvis, whose complementary approaches create a welcoming environment for participants of all backgrounds and experience levels. 90 minute workshop + 30 minute facilitated exchange
Julie Jarvis is a contemporary visual artist and ink painter whose work explores
stillness, transformation, and the subtle energies of the natural world. Drawing on an
interdisciplinary background in visual art, movement, sound, and contemplative inquiry,
she creates both contemporary ink paintings and collaborative experiences that invite
presence, curiosity, and authentic connection.
Sarah Selecky is the author of This Cake Is for the Party, a Giller Prize and
Commonwealth Prize finalist, and her novel Radiant Shimmering Light got a rave
from Margaret Atwood, who declared it "Social satire + cultural insight whipped
into a yummy froth!" In 2020, it was optioned by HBO, with Amy Adams attached
to the project.
