À propos
As an active member of the Oakville Camera Club, Robert Ratcliffe has built a strong presence in the local arts community through ongoing participation in juried competitions and public exhibitions. His work has been repeatedly recognized in the annual Capture Oakville photography competition, including the 2018 Grand Prize, highlighting both the originality and public resonance of his images. His current body of work focuses on the expressive power of silhouettes—bold, high‑contrast forms that distill subjects into striking outlines against luminous backgrounds.
By stripping away detail, his photographs invite viewers to engage their imagination, finding mood, narrative, and symbolism within simplified shapes. Whether depicting figures, trees, or everyday objects, his silhouettes transform the ordinary into scenes of drama, mystery, and emotional depth. This fall, he will share insights into his creative process and visual approach during a special art talk feature highlight his work at Glen Abbey Community Centre.
