PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR ARTWORK WITH GABRIELA GARCIA-LUNA

In this hands-on workshop participants will learn the principles to effectively document their artwork for portfolios, exhibitions, and online platforms.This workshop will guide participants through examples of documented artwork and demonstrate the key principles to produce good quality images.Topics and demonstrations include the setting up space and equipment, lighting, the use of a camera (or smartphone), and tips for producing high-quality images that accurately represent your work.

While the workshop will touch on camera usage, participants should already be familiar with the basics of their equipment.

GABRIELA GARCIA LUNA Gabriela García-Luna is a multimedia artist born in Mexico and living in Treaty Six Territory. Her practice based on photography merges analogue and digital mediums through drawing, printmaking, video and installation.

Exploring botanical life and geographies of places she has called home in Mexico, India, and Saskatchewan – she relates to the memory imprinted in the human experience and in the land. Her experience-based work explores the interconnectedness of the natural world in relation to human experience. Her work has been exhibited in multiple solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, Canada, UK and India. Her practice includes teaching, mentoring and community engagement projects.

She has received grants and awards from the National Foundation for Culture and Art Fellowship in Mexico, The Saskatchewan Arts Board and Canada Council of the Arts among others. Her work is part of public and private national and international collections Including the Galería Libertad and Colección Omnilife, Mexico, TD Bank, Saskatchewan Arts Board, MacKenzie Art Gallery and Global Affairs Canada. Among other studies, she holds a BDes from the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) in Mexico City. And MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Saskatchewan.
