À propos

Join mixed media painters Monica Gewurz & Karen Marki for the live virtual opening to the exhibition 'Below the Surface' at the Kay Meek Arts Centre. Take a tour of the exhibition, look at some of the artwork up close & hear from Monica & Karen as they discusses their inspirations & artistic processes. You'll also have to opportunity to ask the artists questions. Artists Karen Marki & Monica Gewurz, present colourful & textured pieces evocative of natural & urban environments. Gewurz creates evocative & purposely imperfect paintings inspired by nature’s geometric repetitions, patinas, time-worn layers & the amazing colours of dawn & dusk. Marki is inspired by the colours & textures of urban & natural environments as they locally coexist. Her works are created by scraping, sanding & manipulating pigments, creating layers of acrylic paint built onto the canvas like an excavation site. 'Below the Surface' is on view at the Kay Meek Arts Centre, 1700 Mathers Ave, West Vancouver from October 1-31. If you enjoy the virtual opening & want to see the art in person, masks are mandatory & physical distancing is recommended.
