Location: Cowan Community Health Hub at Wilkin Board Room.

Weaving Workshop: Ages 6+ This inclusive workshop invites participants of all backgrounds and skill levels to explore the ancient art of weaving, inspired by the rich tapestry of cultures and the beauty of our local environment. Participants will learn weaving techniques and use provided materials to create their own small tapestry. A variety of loom sizes, animal-shaped frames, and other materials encourage creativity and self-expression. Attendees will choose their materials and work at their own pace.

The workshop prioritizes sustainability by using natural fibres sourced from eco-friendly, local suppliers whenever possible. By working with biodegradable and responsibly produced materials, participants engage not only in artistic creation but also in environmental awareness. Participants will leave with their completed pieces to take home.

Ebru Winegard Art

Ebru Winegard, is a multidisciplinary artist, graphic designer, photographer, and filmmaker dedicated to celebrating diversity and unity. She held a solo exhibition as part of the Contact Photography Festival 2024 and has built an extensive portfolio through years of work in art and art education. Her creations have been featured in numerous group exhibitions and European art projects.

Ebru actively participated in several community art events. She also received a grant to organize a series of workshops, 'Looms of Heritage', for newcomers and refugees. Finally, her community art event at Ontario Culture Days earned the Spotlight People’s Choice Award 2024, standing out among strong competition from across the province.
