Join Elder Patricia Monague for a Sunrise Ceremony at the Huronia Museum to kick off the fifth annual Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week from September 21-27.

We will be meeting at in the Wendat Village, adjacent to the Huronia Museum, at 7:00 a.m. Patricia Monague will lead the Ceremony, which will be followed by breakfast inside the museum.

Please bring your own lawn chair and dress for the weather. This event is rain or shine.

This is a pre-registered event, and spots are limited.

Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week is an initiative featuring various organizations within North Simcoe who wish to highlight the work of Indigenous creatives through various mediums, such as dance, food, literature, music, visual arts, and crafts.

Since its inception, the goal of Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week has been to promote and preserve Indigenous traditions, stories, and practices. This community-driven project creates authentic experiences, most of which are free, for residents and visitors to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous art and culture in North Simcoe.

The fifth Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week will take place from September 21 to 27, 2026. We invite you to join us in celebrating and honouring one of the many diverse cultures that shape Midland and the Heart of Georgian Bay.
