The Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Art Council presents the group exhibition Close To Home, featuring artworks by Tonia Di Risio, Soheila Esfahani, Rafael Goldchain, Xiong Gu, Sumaira Tazeen, Denyse Thomasos and Jeff Thomas. This year-long project brings together artists from a rich range of cultural backgrounds, with works that speak to each artist’s connection to their country of origin and to ideas surrounding home, migration, and what it means to belong. Close to Home highlights the unique and diverse cultural experiences that inform Canadian identity.

A number of recent loans and donations are also on view, by artists Berenice Abbott, Edward Burtynsky, Panya Clark Espinal, Steve Driscoll, P. Mansaram, Janice Mason Steeves, Norval Morisseau, Naoko Matsubara, and Monica Tap.

Organized by the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Art Council, a charitable organization funded by private donations and government grants. We serve to create an environment that promotes physical and emotional healing and values the therapeutic effects of art. Throughout the spaces in our hospitals, pieces of art are on display to enhance the healing environment and support patient and visitor wellbeing.

The Art Council’s mandate is to collect (through donations or loans), curate and display works of art that inspire and bring joy to our patients, visitors and their families as well as staff, physicians and volunteers.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's 1.6 million square feet of space provides opportunities to display moving, inspiring and supportive works of art. The Council builds on the hospital’s existing collection and works with artists, collectors and benefactors to create a space of healing.
