À propos

From One Queer To Another exhibition and reception is the culminating event for Jude Akrey's 2023 City of Guelph Artist in Residence project.

During the summer Akrey assembled LGBTQ2IA+ artists from Guelph for a series of events - arts-based skills workshops, an artist talk, and a drop-in art sharing event - celebrating the multiplicity of queer arts practices. Akrey reflectively created artworks based on each event which will be on display during this exhibition.

"I believe, with much conviction, that Guelph holds the potential to be a progressive, inclusive, and accountable community: one that prioritizes the safety and livelihoods of its vulnerable members. This program highlights the many ways in which sustainable impacts can be made on communities: through shared education, providing inclusive spaces, uplifting the voices of those who have been disadvantaged, and cultivating communities through shared partnerships." - Jude Akrey, 2023 City of Guelph Artist in Residence.
