À propos
Women have always been powerful and they have always worked. At some points in Canadian history what women wore to demonstrate their economic and social status might seem a little extreme. But fashion is about much more than clothes. This exhibit explores “power dressing” as an opportunity to think critically about the flapper of the 1920s as more than someone who wore a certain style of dress, to consider how Canadian women responded to the second world war, and also how they seized economic opportunities at the end of 20th century by co-opting symbols of wealth and strength like shoulder pads.
Organisateur
