À propos

Our library is offering a two-part class for two groups of 5 participants. Each class is 90 minutes long, so students receive 3 hours hands-on time in total. The class would be led by local artist and children's book illustrator Judy Swallow with Swallow’s Art Nest. The attendees ages 10 -17 would each receive a 110-page blank comic book to create their own graphic novel. As well as borrow their own drawing sets from the branch that include 8 sizes of black drawing ink pens, and a 60-colour pack of Prismacolor pencil crayons. The students will learn about creative writing, main characters and story arcs to go with their new Prismacolor drawing skills. The participants will be able to borrow the drawing sets for one month, but come into the branch afterwards anytime and use if needed.

The first part of the class they will learn about expressive writing and begin story boarding their ideas. Judy will teach tips on drawing and shading with the pencil crayons she specializes in.

The second class the students will be able to check-in with their current work and get direction and advice on next steps to take going forward. They will get to polish their drawings and brain-storm further plot details.

Our mission is to provide the residents of Southeast Saskatchewan with the resources and experiences that foster a lifetime of imagination, discovery and learning.

We strive to offer cost-free programs to help remove financial barriers for local families.

We offer monthly arts and crafts for youth and teens to participate in. This month we were able to hire local artist and children's book illustrator to teach these classes thanks to our sponsor Southeast District.
