À propos
For more than 35 years, the Aficionado Stage has been a free outdoor event dedicated to promoting flamenco. Taking place at Ocean ArtWorks Pavilion on Granville Island on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026, the event features two full days of flamenco music and dance, open to audiences of all ages.
Morning classes for children and adults introduce participants to flamenco movement and rhythm. In the afternoon, performances begin at 2:00 pm, with a new group taking the stage each hour. Each 30 to 35 minute set highlights the talent of both professional and emerging flamenco artists from across British Columbia.
This is a space for gathering, celebration, and cultural exchange. Flamenco brings people together, blending traditions and emotions into a vibrant art form that speaks to everyone. The Aficionado Stage invites the public to discover the joy and passion of flamenco in an accessible, welcoming setting.
All artists are paid professional fees, and the event is run by an experienced team with high-quality sound and stage equipment. Our staff, volunteers, and board members will be present to support the artists and engage with the audience. Whether you are a seasoned fan or new to flamenco, this is a chance to connect with a rich artistic tradition in one of Vancouver’s most iconic public spaces.

Organisateur
Flamenco Rosario
Flamenco Rosario is a contemporary dance, creation, and production company dedicated to developing and promoting flamenco art. Founded in 1989 by Rosario Ancer and Victor Kolstee, the company introduced flamenco to Western Canada, where it had previously been largely unrecognized. Over the past 36 years, Flamenco Rosario has become a cornerstone of the flamenco community in Vancouver, offering original works, educational programs, and collaborations with renowned guest artists. The company also presents the Vancouver Flamenco Festival, Canada’s first and longest-running flamenco festival, which has helped establish Western Canada as a hub for flamenco performance and education.
Our mandate is to create innovative dance and music works while supporting artists in both contemporary and traditional flamenco styles. We are driven by a mission to share flamenco’s raw emotional power and disciplined artistry through performances, presentations, workshops, and training programs. By honoring flamenco’s rich heritage and exploring its evolving potential, we aim to inspire both artists and audiences to connect deeply with this unique and expressive art form.
