À propos

Join artist Eleanor J. Fernandez and learn to hand build clay vessels, clay musical instruments or fashion images in clay.

Clay has been used by humans since we were still hunters and gatherers. It is believed that the discovery of using clay vessels for processing/cooking and storage of food led to the domestication of grains, creation of communities supporting agriculture, and ultimately, civilisations.

Clay was the main material in people's everyday lives until the emergence of oil-based plastic and synthetic materials. Those related to food were not the only use for clay forms. There were also religious icons and images, talismans, musical instruments, toys; and forms. So, clay and the art of making clay forms has contributed to humans' mental, physical and emotional health!
