À propos
A day-long urban sketching tour inviting the public to create on-location, plein air sketches at multiple sketch-stop locations. Attendees may choose whether they want to join for a single 90 minute sketch stop or join for the entire day to hear about the cultural and historical significance of the public art installations, sculptures, and architecture in their community, all while creating an urban sketch of their own.
Shauna will provide helpful instructions for creating an on-location sketch in pencil, ink, or watercolour, at each sketch stop
Each unique Sculpture Culture sketch stop will include the following:
-An overview of the unique cultural qualities of the sketching location
-An invitation to attendees to share their personal connections to the site and discuss how that may influence the way they approach their sketching
-An introduction to the general concept of urban sketching
-Tips on how to capture the scene quickly while viewing the subject
-Suggestions for inexpensive and portable materials best suited to creating quick plein air art on site wherever you are
-Ideas for urban sketching where you live and where you travel
The Sculpture Culture Sketch Tour includes (4) individual sketch stops throughout Kelowna. Participants may choose to join in at one single sketch-stop of their choosing, or participate in any or all of the sketch stops.
The Sculpture Culture Sketch Tour is best suited to Adult participation, but children under the direct supervision of their parent or adult guardian are welcome to join, and all content will be family-friendly.
Please bring a lawn chair or stool, unless you prefer to stand while sketching.
All participants are also encouraged to bring their own sketching materials, or watercolour paints, brushes, canvas, paper, etc; however, a small quantity of free-to-use-on-site sketching supplies will be made available for public use.
