The Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro Box Beautification Competition is an engaging community initiative launched in 2019 through a partnership among NOTL Hydro, the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, and the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Communities in Bloom Committee. This annual competition invites artists to submit their designs for transforming plain hydro boxes into vibrant pieces of public art. Selected artworks are then installed on hydro boxes throughout the town, adding to its visual appeal and celebrating the creativity of regional artists.
This initiative not only beautifies the town but also strengthens community ties and highlights local artistic talent. Residents and visitors can explore these artistic installations through a self-guided tour around Niagara-on-the-Lake. Maps for the tour are available at the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre by making a donation.

Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre
The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre is the art hub that connects our community by providing art for all. Located on the banks of the Niagara River in a heritage building that formerly supplied water to Niagara-on-the-Lake (hence our name); the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre offers visual arts programs, exhibitions and events. We give back to the community by providing access to the arts for those in need.
