À propos

As part of the Connextions 2025 project, see Hyedie Hashimoto's vinyl artworks, Roses & Bees and Peonies & Bees, on display outside of Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre.

Hyedie offers the following description of her work:

Roses & Bees and Peonies & Bees are part of my Dreamscapes watercolour series, which captures local flora through dreamy, layered colour washes. Delicate white silhouettes of pollinators float above the blooms, highlighting the diverse insects that play a vital role in the life cycle of our local vegetation. This series celebrates both the beauty of our environment and the essential, often-overlooked relationships that sustain it.

About the artist:

Hyedie Hashimoto is a Toronto-based visual artist. Hyedie works across a variety of mediums, including watercolour, oil, acrylic and aerosol, creating pieces that range from small paintings to public murals on traffic boxes and concrete barriers. Her work often reflects on themes like urban life, human evolution, and our connection to the environment. She aims to create art that is accessible, thoughtful, and visually engaging.

Originally from Vancouver, she has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Arts, from the University of British Columbia.
