This tool connects the Surrey Archives’ historic images to modern day locations. Divided by city centres, this tool provides a then and now experience. This tool is a result of a City of Surrey partnership between the Engineering Department's GIS team and the Surrey Archives.
With quite a few historical images of Surrey, organized by town centre - Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton, and South Surrey - historic images give perspective on modern life. To access the Time Lapse Tool click on the orange button below, make sure to give it time to load!

The City of Surrey Heritage Services Department runs various parts of Heritage within the City of Surrey including Heritage Collections, Surrey Archives, Re-enactors, and Historic Stewart Farm. The mandate of our division is to share the diverse history of the Municipality of Surrey with our community. Our vision is to create a better community that reflects on the past.
As part of our shift towards online programming these institutions have begun to focus on digital and remote programming, instead of in person interpretation. This tool is created from gathering together over 200 historical images of Surrey from the Surrey Archives permanent photography collection.
