Visit the Thunder Bay Art Gallery during Culture Days to take part in some self-guided creative activities!

The main gallery spaces are currently closed while we install Radical Stitch, opening on October 13th.

Our Community Room is still open for a hands-on Sensory Station and the Art Making Station for visitors to engage with. All ages welcome!

Thunder Bay Art Gallery

As the largest public art gallery in Northwestern Ontario, the Thunder Bay Art Gallery is a leader in the exhibition and collection of visual arts throughout the region. Every day the Gallery creates engagement by providing school tours, hosting arts events and classes, or sharing our space with community groups. The Thunder Bay Art Gallery stands as a regional cultural hub committed to developing connections through contemporary Indigenous, local, and regional art.

… documents and records our culture, with over 1,600 works of art forming one of the most extensive collections of contemporary Indigenous and regional art held in trust for the community.

… expands the influence of artists and loans artwork to other museums and galleries including the National Gallery of Canada and the Smithsonian Institute.

… welcomes up to 20,000 visitors each year including residents as well as national and international tourists.

… hosts artist talks, lectures, demonstrations, and dialog sessions including hybrid livestreamed events.

… reaches over 4,000 school age children through in person curriculum linked tours and hands-on learning opportunities.

… engages over 1,000 students in the region and beyond through a virtual school tour program.
