About the work:

Excerpt from a new work titled When The Walls Come Down

Dance//Novella is currently building a new work that incorporates American Sign Language and collaborates with Deaf Artists. It is a true fusion of contemporary dance and Deaf Theatre. The piece is danced by Racheal Prince and Brandon Lee Alley (Dance//Novella) and features Caroline Hebert, a passionate Deaf Performing Artist. The work is being created in partnership with Chris Dodd, Artistic director of SOUND OFF - Canada largest Deaf theater festival. The storyline is fictional but inspired by real life events that Caroline has shared with us. This excerpt is titled "The Doll".

Ballet BC

Ballet BC’s Artist in Residence (AIR) aims to help nurture former and existing Company members with professional development opportunities in the fields of choreography, artistic leadership, rehearsal directing and teaching. As well, the AIR interacts with the artists and staff of Ballet BC through the sharing of their creative processes and by involving the Company in showings, artist talks and information about their upcoming shows. The presence and expertise of the AIR are valued at the Company as we create a collaborative environment for dialogue, exchange and feedback of creative ideas to better understand the future of dance and the role of the artist in society today.
