À propos

The COVID-19 pandemic is an historic event, dramatically altering day-to-day life for everyone. The effects of the pandemic will be the subject of future documentaries, films, research articles, novels and more. We are living through an unprecedented time in history, and Surrey Civic Theatres in a partnership with Surrey Archives wants to capture the authentic human moments of this experience through a storytelling project, Stories are Contagious.

We want to hear from you! We are looking for submissions from Surrey residents on the theme Stories are Contagious. Tell us about your experience of the pandemic. It can be a small story, a big story, funny, sad—it is really up to you. Stories are the one thing that connect us all and help us make sense of the world. Listening to and telling stories is fun. They unite us and make us feel we belong.

When it comes to submissions, feel free to get creative! Write a story, record a story, submit a photograph, drawing, audio recording, letters, a diary excerpt, even a Tik Tok video…the only limits are your imagination!

The Stories are Contagious project aims to capture this unique moment in time and document the stories of the people of Surrey in a fun, creative way, showcasing what a wonderful, diverse, resourceful, and resilient community we are. A selection of submissions will be curated and shared as part of Surrey Civic Theatres’ Culture Days initiative. Participants may also be asked if their stories can be stored as part of Surrey Archives collection.

Organisateur

Surrey Civic Theatres

Surrey Civic Theatres typically presents over 30 live shows a season in three venues. Once the pandemic hit the last four shows of the season had to be cancelled and a quick pivot to online presenting created the Digital Stage. VISION: Surrey Civic Theatres will provide unparalleled opportunities for diverse, transformative, performing arts experiences that inspire artistic expression, imagination and discovery. MISSION: Surrey Civic Theatres are a gathering place where artists, audience and our community connect and find inspiration.
