À propos

Losing Ground: an exhibition of solo work by Melissa Doherty. Staff will be available to provide mini-tours of the exhibition.

Playing with scale, perspective and the sculptural aspects of painting, Kitchener-Waterloo-based artist Melissa Doherty challenges our perceptions of both landscape and landscape painting. Her recent work examines the way natural elements are removed from the ground and displayed in containers and planters, on rooftops and green walls, to explore the facade and artifice in the constructed landscape. She considers how this positions the natural landscape as one step removed from the ground that sustains it, creating a veneer of landscape.

Latcham Art Centre

Latcham Art Centre is a not-for-profit public art gallery located in Stouffville, Ontario, 45 minutes north-east of Toronto which inspires the community to engage with visual art through exhibitions of contemporary art and education programs including classes, workshops, artist talks and tours.

Exhibitions are complemented with educational and public programs including school visits, public lectures, art workshops, classes and tours led by the curator, art educators and exhibiting artists.
