À propos
“Colours of Heritage: An Introduction to Kashi kari Glass Mosaic Art” is a free, hands on Culture Days workshop celebrating the luminous tradition of Kashi kari—the colourful glazed tile and glass mosaic art that adorns mosques, shrines, and historic architecture across Iran, Sindh, and Multan in Pakistan.
Kashi kari features glowing glazes, geometric patterns, arabesques, and calligraphy. Historically, it developed in Kashan, Iran and spread across West and South Asia, where it became a hallmark of Islamic architecture.
Its vivid colours—blues, greens, yellows, turquoise—are achieved through glazed ceramic techniques, producing a reflective, glass like surface.
In this workshop, participants learn about Kashikari’s history and motifs, then create their own glass mosaic or painted glazed tile, inspired by traditional patterns.
The workshop welcomes teens, adults, beginners, and anyone who loves design, colour, and culture.
