À propos
Come for a hilarious look at the lighter side of taking meds, dealing with addictions, seeing counselors, getting diagnosed, and surviving the mental health system. Comics are all alumni of the Stand Up for Mental Health (SMH) Comedy Program.
We hold this Culture Days event at The Yoga Root because one of our awesome yoga instructors is an alumnus of the SMH Comedy Program and the studio owner sits on the SMH Board of Directors. Together we can reduce the stigma of mental illness!
Note: Please come early if you need a chair. Being a yoga studio, most of the seating is on cushions on the floor.
Organisateur
SMH Comedy Society
Founded in 2004 by award-winning counsellor and stand-up comic David Granirer who himself suffers from depression, Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) is an award-winning program that teaches stand-up comedy to people with mental health issues as a way of building confidence and fighting public stigma.
We make a huge difference in the lives of our comics and also to the community by showing them a totally different perspective on mental health. Audiences at our shows see people on stage who are funny, likeable, friendly, and courageous, qualities you often don’t associate with someone who has mental health issues!
