About the Guest Artist:

Marlene Yuen is a Vancouver-based artist who received her bachelor’s of studio arts in 1998 from the University of British Columbia. Marlene has exhibited at galleries, artist-run centers, and cultural events in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Japan. Although she is a multidisciplinary artist, her current focus is on handmade books; her artist books have been retained in special collections nationally and internationally. Her works will be featured in the upcoming group exhibition, FOODWAYS, at the Richmond Art Gallery from October 19 – December 31, 2024.

About the Rooftop Garden:

Richmond’s Rooftop Garden is located on the 2nd floor of the Richmond Library/Cultural Centre, open from April – October. It features a variety of floral and food plants maintained by the Richmond Garden Club, with a long picnic table to host small group workshops or events, and a big chess game for players of all ages. To access the garden, climb the stairs in the Cultural Centre Rotunda and it is the door on your right. If taking the elevator, walk past the Textile Studio to find the door on your left.

About the RAG Rooftop Garden Series:

In the months leading up to our FOODWAYS exhibition this fall, Richmond Art Gallery is hosting a variety of outdoor workshops and events at the Cultural Centre Rooftop Garden during the summer/early fall growing and harvest season. These sessions at Culture Days are the final workshops of the program.

This program supported by the 2024 City of Richmond Arts and Culture Grant.
