À propos

Local mixed media contemporary artist Jessica Craig installs her works "Reminiscing, Self-Inquiry, and New Existence" at the Britannia Art Gallery, located inside the Vancouver Public Library Britannia branch. jCraig is inspired to capture emotional and societal dichotomies that exist within ourselves, socially and environmentally. Her artistic discourse can be seen primarily with the use of strong contrasting colours, fixated against a subtle and calm emotional undertone. As you will see, jCraig is on an exploration of mark making through multiple mediums, from charcoal, acrylic, pastels, and found or reusable objects. Current themes being explored are re-usability, reminiscing, transparency and self-inquiry.

The gallery is open during library hours, Tuesdays-Saturdays and is closed Sun/Mon. Please note that only 2 people may view the work at any given time, to ensure physical distancing is possible. Educational materials, including the Artist Statement, can now be found online: britanniaartgallery.weebly.com

Organisateur

Britannia Art Gallery

Britannia is located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and we hold the heritage of these lands close in our everyday work. We aim to embrace Indigenous values and practices and are committed to reflecting Indigenous protocols, beliefs, and ways of being in our work. We thank those who came before us and who have guided our learning.

Our neighbourhood is full of talented artists, musicians and other cultural creatives who bring colourful energy to the site through special events, workshops and other Arts & Culture projects that happen on site throughout each year. We operate the Britannia Art Gallery, and Artist Grant program, quarterly online Coffeehouses, Artist Markets, and many classes & workshops.

If you are interested in learning more about the Arts & Culture Committee and/or our events and programs, please contact the Arts & Culture Programmer, Bea: [email protected]
