The Big Stir: Soup Stories is back! Join us on Thursday, October 9, from 10 AM to 5 PM upstairs at the Nipawin Legion (#120) for a day of culture, kindness, and community cooking.

This special Soup Sisters event is part of Culture Days in Nipawin and aligns with Hunger in Action Month. The mission is simple: stock the freezer at the Nipawin Food Bank with wholesome, delicious soup so no one in our community goes without a warm meal during the cold winter months.

What can you expect?

Soup Making at Scale: Together, volunteers will prepare 21 pots of Brenda’s Chili—a Soup Sisters recipe adapted for Big Stirs across North America. That’s over 320 litres of chili headed straight into 1-litre freezer containers for the Nipawin Food Bank.

Hands-On Participation: Volunteers will chop vegetables, open and rinse beans and chickpeas, prep containers, and ladle cooled soup into freezer-ready portions. Everyone helps keep the kitchen running and tidy.

Two Cooking Sessions: Work alongside your neighbors during shifts starting at 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Clean aprons are provided; just wear comfortable clothes and tie back your hair.

The Soup Stories Wall: Add your thoughts, experiences, and ideas on how to build culture and kindness in our community. Contributing earns you a chance to win a door prize.

Connection & Impact: More than just cooking, The Big Stir is about sharing stories, learning from each other, and making a direct, tangible difference for families in Nipawin.

This event is proudly hosted with the support of community partners, major sponsors, the Nipawin Chamber of Commerce, and the Rise Up Community Advisory Foundation, a registered local not-for-profit in good standing.
