Hands on activities include:

Station 1. Willow Weaving - Hands-On - Crafting

Try your hand at the age-old art of willow weaving guided by a local artisan. Make a bracelet or start a small project using flexible willow branches.

Station 2: Grain Identification - Touch, See Learn

Explore the world of prairies grains - wheat oats, barley, flax and more. Use your senses to identify them by touch, sight and feel.

Station 3: Historic Flour Mill Tour - Machinery in Motion

Take a guided tour through our historic 1898 flour mill. See original equipment up close and learn how grain was milled into flour the early 20th century.

Station 4: Storyboard Scavenger Hunt - Explore Our Past

Follow clues and explore outdoor storyboard signs to uncover Yorkton's rich agricultural and multicultural history through vintage photos and stories.

Station 5: Wheat Weaving - Prairie Folk Art

Watch how wheat s crafted into decorative items. Learn about symbolism and tradition behind this beautify historic folk art.

Station 6: Games from Days Gone By

Step back in time and rediscover the fun of yesterday. Join us for old fashioned games where there are no screens, no technology - just smiles, laughter and memories waiting to be made.

Morning and afternoon slots are intended for school groups. From 11:45 to 12:45 there is a hot dog sale and citizens may tour the mill.

The mandate of the Yorkton Mill Heritage Society is heritage preservation, community engagement and agricultural education. The restored mill operates as a living history museum and cultural hub.
