ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

FELICITY KUYENA
Felicity is a high energy choreographer and dancer specializing in Afrobeat and Hip Hop. She teaches at StudioNorth Vancouver and has been a choreographer for The Main Event Dance Show.

FOLK STAR ARTS ACADEMY
Folk Star Arts Academy is a registered not-for-profit society dedicated to promoting and preserving Punjabi culture through various art forms, including dance, music, and visual arts. Founded in 2019, it aims to empower individuals, especially Canadian Punjabi youth, by connecting them to their heritage and fostering inclusivity and collaboration.
For this event, they will be performing the Punjabi folk dance Bhangra, and will lead an interactive Bhangra workshop to teach the audience the basic steps. Bhangra is a dance full of energy and enthusiasm!

BOLLYFUSION: GARBA & DANDIYA EXPERIENCE
BollyFusion is a vibrant cultural celebration featuring the high-energy rhythms and colorful traditions of Garba and Dandiya Raas — two lively folk dances from the Indian state of Gujarat. The dancers will open with a dynamic 5-minute live performance, showcasing the traditional flair of Garba and Dandiya and then teach everyone a 60-minute beginner-friendly dance workshop.
This culturally informed session will break down the basic steps and movements in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Participants of all ages and experience levels will be guided through interactive dance routines, making it a fun and engaging experience for everyone.
