À propos
Everyone is invited to come “add their brushstroke” to a new community mural!
A small mural is being created by renowned mural artist Scott A. Crew, recreating a painting by the Group of 7 member Lawren Harris. Come learn about mural painting and listen to stories about the Group of Seven’s Barrie connections.
The young and young at heart are also invited to participate in a colouring sheet activity based on the mural to take home.
Did you know that the idea to form The Group of Seven was first discussed right here in Barrie?
Iconic Canadian artist Lawren Harris had a summer home in Barrie, and he created many paintings in Barrie between 1918 and 1923. Many believe his work “A Street in Barrie” was sketched on the steps of The Carnegie Library (now the MacLaren Art Centre). Come view the “clues” and decide for yourself.
Mural Artist Scott A. Crew (@mural.crew) has been creating murals for communities, schools, and businesses for 28 years. Barrie residents may remember the 1000 sq ft “Barrie Heritage Wall Mural” that used to stand at the floor of Bayfield St. He has recently spent time restoring many of the murals in Huntsville’s Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery.
This activity is funded by The City of Barrie for Culture Days 2025.
