À propos
This event will offer families and individuals the opportunity to meet the people and the instruments in the orchestra up close. Typically this is not something people get to do as concerts are usually held in big concert hall where the audience is at a fair distance from the players, and audience members are expected to sit and listen. Our event turns this experience around by offering the families the opportunity to move around, chat with the players, see what the different (14 different ones + a vast array of percussion instruments!) instruments really look like and how they are played. In a sense, the families will build the orchestra and see how all the parts fit together.
Organisateur
Calgary Civic Symphony
The Calgary Civic Symphony has entertained Calgarians for 43 years. Begun as a venue for non-professional or retired musicians to play orchestral music, the CCS has grown steadily in both numbers and artistic excellence.
Today, led by a small core of professional musicians and highly-acclaimed artistic director and conductor Rolf Bertsch, the CCS continues to provide exceptional experiences for both its musicians and audiences.
The CCS presents a main series of five concerts annually, ranging in genre from major classical works to pop, film, and Christmas favourites. The orchestra features the best of area soloists and collaborates with other musical organizations to bring its programs to the stage of the Jack Singer Concert Hall. It also fosters young talent by hosting the annual Rotary Calgary Concerto Competition and presenting the winners in concert.
