Join us in welcoming Vanessa Yu for Calligraphy!

Vanessa is a GTA-based lettering artist with a love for modern script and its power to evoke sentiments beyond words, build relationships, de-stress, and more. Since discovering the world of calligraphy in 2016, she has enjoyed exploring different media and sharing her passion with others through workshops, notably with MUJI and post-secondary institutions. As a calligrapher, bullet journalist, and digital content creator, she has worked with clients including Tombow, Zebra Pen, Skillshare, and local cafes, among others. Vanessa is a pianist, plant-collector, and latte-enthusiast in her free time.

The Markham Arts Council was originally started with a mission to serve and enhance our community’s well being by providing arts and cultural education and awareness while supporting the work and development of visual, literary and performing artists. Over the years, the Arts Council has worked on collaborative projects and initiatives by providing emerging and established artists with opportunities to grow and learn. Our aim is to build a stronger, more diverse yet unified arts community that encompasses literary arts, experimental art, visual arts, new media, music, dance, performance and dramatic arts.
