For the second year in a row, Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park (BCHP) will participate in Alberta Culture Days. Siksika Nation will proudly welcome this recognition, as it will highlight Blackfoot culture as a vital part of Alberta’s broader cultural identity. Alberta Culture Days will once again align with the anniversary of the Treaty 7 signing and National Truth and Reconciliation Day, making BCHP’s involvement an important step toward advancing truth and reconciliation.

Visitors will experience a meaningful cultural program, with highlights including:

Elders Sharing Stories: Blackfoot Elders will share wisdom, stories, and teachings on the importance of preserving Blackfoot traditions for future generations.

Dancing and Performances: Elders, community members, and visitors will gather to enjoy traditional Blackfoot music and dance performances, celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage of Siksika Nation.

Workshops and Tours: Guided programs both in the museum and on the grounds

Games: Traditional Hand Games

This commemoration will be more than a celebration—it will be an opportunity to walk among history, connect with the strength of Blackfoot ancestors, and experience how Blackfoot culture continues to enrich Alberta’s cultural identity.

Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park

Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, located on Siksika Nation where Treaty No. 7 was signed, is Canada’s largest Indigenous-owned museum and a National Historic Site dedicated to preserving and sharing the culture, history, and traditions of the Siksikawa (Blackfoot people). Guided by its vision to be a world leader in celebrating Blackfoot heritage, the Park’s mission is to protect this sacred site, honour ancestors, and create a place of learning, cultural exchange, and reconciliation. Its core values—respect, truth, cultural integrity, stewardship, and education—shape its role as both a community gathering place and an international destination.
