Direct Theatre Collective, Richmond’s groundbreaking theatre company and recipients of the 2020 Artistic Innovation Award are offering an evening of entertainment for free as part of BC Culture Days. A Co-Vid Cabaret will be livestreamed on the 24th October at 8pm.

NB: This performance contains mature subject matter and language and is intended for an adult audience.

Co-Vid means Connected-Videos, with each artist drawing from their unique skill and style, our cabaret will offer a tour-de-force of different genres all packed into one breathtaking hour.

A Co-Vid Cabaret features performances from international artists Peter Abando, Martha Ansfield-Scrase, Matt Barnez, Nita Bowerman, Georgie Daburas, Aerhyn Lau, Julia Muncs, Jill Raymond, Kapila Rego, Florence Reiher, Isa Sanchez, Sandy Scofield, Maddison Silva, and Ali Watson, alongside the music video premiere of ‘Wait a Couple Days’ by local band The Argyle Embargo.

This event is presented with a grant awarded by The Richmond Community Foundation.

Direct Theatre Collective

Direct Theatre Collective is a multi-award winning new company spearheaded by Artistic Director Jill Raymond. Direct Theatre Collective is committed to producing original new work, recognizing art as a vehicle for change, representing marginalized communities and using theatre as a device to evoke and provoke; the company was created in 2018 and is a registered Not-for-Profit society in Richmond BC.

Direct Theatre Collective’s first devised ensemble production Hysteria performed at the Vancouver Fringe in 2018 where it won two awards; it was extensively rewritten in the spring of 2019 and redeveloped with a new ensemble cast in 2019, performing a two-week run at the Havana Theatre in September 2019. This performance won three BroadwayWorld awards including Best New Work, Best Play and Best Actress in a Play (Jill Raymond).
