Attendees will be encouraged to participate to the extent of their abilities - no previous art training or sketching knowledge required - urban sketching is about enjoying the process, and not focused on the product or outcome

An urban sketching tour inviting the public to create on-location, plein-air sketches at two (90) minute sketch-stops.
Shauna provides helpful instructions for creating an on-location sketch in pencil or ink - if the weather is nice and we can be outside, Attendees may even want to try watercolour!
Culture Sketch-stops include:
-Brief overview of the unique cultural qualities of the sketching location
-Introduction to the general concept of urban sketching
-Tips on how to capture the scene quickly while viewing the subject
-Suggestions for inexpensive and portable materials best suited to creating quick plein air art on-site wherever you are
-Ideas for urban sketching where you live and where you travel
Attendance is FREE
The Culture Sketch Tour is best suited to Adult participation, but children under the direct supervision of their parent or adult guardian are welcome to join, and all content will be family-friendly.
WEATHER DEPENDENT:
Good Weather - we will be sketching outside - Please bring a lawn chair or stool, unless you prefer to stand while sketching.
Inclement Weather - attendees may choose to sketch inside the venues - PAINTS NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED INSIDE - sketching inside the museum / library will be restricted to pen, or pencil only.
*please note that the Museum entry fee is donation (recommend $5 per person).
All participants are encouraged to bring their own sketching materials, or watercolour paints, brushes, canvas, paper, etc.
A small quantity of free-to-use-on-site sketching supplies will be available.
