Step into a world of colour, creativity, and summertime sweetness at Gelato, Gelato! — a hands-on art activity for kids as part of Vaughan Culture Days.

Inspired by the joy of Italian gelato and the magic of texture art, children will create their very own 3D gelato painting using artist-approved texture paste to bring their scoops to life. Each child will design a painted cone and choose their favourite "flavours" (colours) to swirl into their gelato masterpiece.

This creative experience is fun, sensory, and mess-friendly — perfect for children of all ages. No art experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. Kids can take home their finished artwork as a keepsake of their cultural adventure.

Led by local artist and creative workshop host Miriam Tollis (of Italian heritage), this event is part of a larger mission to make art approachable, meaningful, and joyful — one scoop at a time!

My name is Miriam Tollis, a Vaughan-based artist, creative workshop facilitator, and real estate professional with a deep passion for helping people connect with beauty — in their homes, in their lives, and within themselves. I design and host elegant, hands-on art experiences for adults and children that invite self-expression, spark joy, and celebrate creativity in unexpected ways.

As a proud Canadian of Italian heritage, I often weave cultural themes, nature, and meaningful storytelling into my workshops. Throughout the year, I run seasonal art events and creative retreats in beautiful settings — from sunflower farms to lavender fields — encouraging people of all ages to slow down, make something beautiful, and surprise themselves.

My goal is to make creativity accessible and joyful for everyone, whether they consider themselves “artistic” or not. Vaughan Culture Days is the perfect opportunity to share that spirit with the community in a playful, family-friendly way.
