À propos

Listen To Dis’ VOICE is an open door community program with a focus on body, breath, and voice work. The program has been operating for 18 years, under the facilitation of Traci Foster, and we are excited to expand its reach through Saskatchewan Culture Days.

This Listen to Dis’ Voice workshop will focus on exploring different ways of freeing your voice through body, breath, and mindfulness exercises. We will look at things such as yawning, sighing, and other non-verbal sound expressions that support health and well-being and explore how they influence freeing one's voice while helping to develop confidence in self expression.

This intimately accessible workshop will support a deeper understanding of how breath and voice function and how this can contribute to well-being and self regulation. This will be the first of three evening sessions over the course of the Saskatchewan Culture Days window, each taught by a different artist with expertise in developing and using one's voice and using the voice to self advocate and creatively express. It will be facilitated by Traci Foster.

Traci Foster (she/they) is a somatic artist and theatre maker who explores and develops her work with a focus on where awareness, intuition, and action intersect. She works with creation as care, and unapologetically seeks pleasure in all aspects of life, including art making. Traci is the Founder and Artistic Director of Listen to Dis’ Community Arts Organization and is an unrelenting advocate of disability culture. She loves art, especially the stuff that makes her laugh, cry, or squirm.

Any required materials will be provided to participants. Participants can choose to use their devices (phone, tablet) if it is more accessible for them. For any additional access needs or accommodations, please reach out to [email protected].

Listen to Dis' Community and Art Org. Inc.

Listen to Dis' is Saskatchewan's first and only disability-led arts organization. Through the arts, creative practices, and facilitated dialogues, Listen to Dis’ weaves new realities for our members and the broader community, shifting the way people perceive disability. We create an understanding of and appreciation for Crip art, Mad art, and Disability culture while encouraging healthier relationships to body, mind, and creative spirit.
