À propos

This is the ninth event organised by Grands 'n' More Winnipeg to bring affordable art to everyone interested in attending, and for browsers to view and enjoy about 3000 pieces of art. Those who buy will be supporting the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which works with community partner organisations in 14 sub-Saharan African countries to support the needs of grandmothers raising grandchildren whose parents died of AIDS. Those who are just looking will get a fascinating look at what Winnipeggers and others have had on their walls (or in storage somewhere), the variety of which is astonishing.

All art has been donated by Winnipeg and area residents and covers a very broad range of media, subject matter, styles and vintages. It is a treasure hunt, as every year lots of very special things appear, and each visitor (even children) can hope to find a piece that speaks irresistibly to them. There will be indigenous art, pieces from other continents, photographs, needlework of astonishing quality, etc.- something for everyone.

Almost all pieces are framed and ready to hang in a new home. Prices range from $5 into the hundreds, as the art ranges from charming little prints to original work by artists well known locally or even internationally.

Organisateur

Grands 'n' More Winnipeg

Grands 'n' More Winnipeg is a volunteer non-profit group of women who share a commitment to solidarity with grandmothers in Africa who have been involved in raising grandchildren (and sometimes neighbour children) whose parents died of AIDS. Many of the members are grandmothers who feel deeply the special relationship to grandchildren that is shared. Membership is not confined to women or grandmothers, hence the " 'n' More " part of the name. We raise funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation"s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, and work to raise awareness of the continuing impact of HIV and AIDS in the world and the special needs of girls and women.
