INTERSECTING MIXED MEDIA

For all ages

Explore an intersection of mediums as we combine a partial photocopied picture or magazine picture with paint to complete a composition on canvas. The Artist will lead the activity as both a quick experiment and will provide extension ideas for those interested in adding more details for a finished piece.

THERE WILL BE A FREE ART KIT AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP, IN LIMITED QUANTITIES. Email [email protected] for details and to request a kit. Limited one kit per household, kit contains enough materials for 2 participants.

Or gather the following materials to work along:

- background - can be canvas panel, carboard or thick bristol/cardstock

- a photocopy or magazine image

- pencil, scissors, glue or gel medium

- paints, brushes, water & water cup, paper towel or rags

- or as an alternative to paint, any drawing materials

Janice Low is an artist in the Niagara Region of Ontario creating realistic and impressionistic compositions in paintings and photography.

Janice has facilitated workshops for Culture Days for the past 5 years.

The Cultural Services office is a division of the City of St. Catharines’ Community, Recreation and Culture Services department. Cultural Services focuses on public art, community development, planning and policy related to arts and culture in the City of St. Catharines. During Culture Days, staff partner with organizations and artists to deliver programs for the Community.
