Create your own beaded jewelry or key chains using Cree beading techniques with Sylvia Thorburn, from Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Enjoy a relaxing & fun social activity. ~ FREE ~
Location: Tipi in playground conditions permitting OR at Art & Culture Centre -219 Main Street, Climax, SK. 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm
Sylvia Thorburn, a Cree Beadwork Artist from Red Pheasant Nation, is a passionate educator who teaches interactive workshops on traditional beading with one and two needles. Participants will learn about the history and symbolism of Cree beadwork creations and learn how to tack, knot and bead on a pattern. Participants can engage in the calming and traditional creation of bracelets, necklaces, medicine bags and/or medallions designed to increase respect, understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Indigenous history and art towards Truth and Reconciliation.
