Drive 2 blocks up Main Street & see Art & Culture Centre ( navy building on left hand corner). Village Hall is at village entrance on the right will host the Multicultural Food Festival.

To honour Truth & Reconciliation Day marvel at the beauty of a Tipi Raising Ceremony from Nekaneet Cree Nation; listen to the stories and learn gentle and calming Cree Beading Techniques with Sylvia Thorburn from Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Create your own beaded jewelry or key chains using Cree beading techniques with Sylvia Thorburn, from Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Enjoy a relaxing & fun social activity. ~ FREE ~

Location: Tipi in playground conditions permitting OR at Art & Culture Centre -219 Main Street, Climax, SK. 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm

Sylvia Thorburn, a Cree Beadwork Artist from Red Pheasant Nation, is a passionate educator who teaches interactive workshops on traditional beading with one and two needles. Participants will learn about the history and symbolism of Cree beadwork creations and learn how to tack, knot and bead on a pattern. Participants can engage in the calming and traditional creation of bracelets, necklaces, medicine bags and/or medallions designed to increase respect, understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Indigenous history and art towards Truth and Reconciliation.

Climax Community Museum (CCM) is a non-profit cultural educational resource dedicated to enhancing equity and including access & creative educational opportunities for all, which operates 3 sites: the museum, the Historical Machinery Annex, and the Art & Culture Centre (ACC). Museum is open seasonally and by appointment. The ACC hosts special events, workshops, exhibitions year round.
