The Third Place Winnipeg X Compost present: SUN//SPILL

Join us for a night of live music and art featuring local band Compost and singer-songwriter FERNANDA alongside various art installations that draw inspiration from our prairie skies.

Compost cultivates deep, analog soundscapes rooted in improvisation and groove. With Fender Rhodes, electric bass, and live drums at the core, their music balances ambient atmosphere with hip-hop-informed rhythm—cycling between meditation and movement. Each performance is a slow-growing ecosystem: layered, textural, and continually evolving.

8:00pm - Compost: cloudy, ambient music featuring the mbira - a Zimbabwean instrument with staggered metal tines.

9:30pm - FERNANDA: Storyteller, singer-songwriter, sound artist, and performer, FERNANDA’s inspiration flows from folk culture, mysticism, and the rhythms of nature.

11:00pm - Compost's second set will feature their established repertoire consisting of lush Rhodes, deep bass, and acoustic drums.

Midlight

In our fast-paced, image-saturated world, even the most breathtaking natural phenomena - sunsets, vast open skies, the slow drift of clouds - sometimes become background noise. By presenting scenes typically associated with day or dusk at night, we aim to renew the viewer's capacity for awe and appreciation through increased contrast and new contexts.

Archive of Remembered Skies

Continues the invitation into slow observation, with a collaborative lens. Community members have contributed their own remembered skies. These shared memories form a growing collective archive.
